Job Title: Overhead Crane Operator
Responsibilities: The Material Handler/Overhead Crane Operator is responsible for the operation and inspection of the remote operated overhead 3-ton crane to transport stock materials throughout the facility. Will operate powered industrial vehicles to load and unload trucks transporting heavy racks of raw glass to storage. While performing duties the operator must check for and alert employees to safety hazards. This position is an operations team member with the primary goal of satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity and delivery, in a safe manner while maximizing productivity.
Tasks Include: Move levers or press controls & pedals to operate crane & powered industrial vehicles for lifting, moving, or placing loads. Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms and/or powered industrial vehicles to prevent malfunctions or damage to glass. Inspect sling devices for wear and perform daily checklists of both crane and PIVs for safe operation.
Essential Job Functions
Must be able to operate forklift, crane and Rico in a safe fashion.
Must have basic computer skills to enter loads into system.
Document all shipments and our loads received.
Document daily equipment checklists in a timely manner.
Able to communicate with outside carriers and help accommodate their needs in a timely manner.
Work with other employees as a team to meet deadlines.
You must be flexible to schedule changes to accommodate business needs.
Able to work with little or no supervision.
Requirements
The ability to adhere to the company’s policies, rules and regulations, according to the employee’s handbook.
Must be certified in house on forklift, crane and Rico.
Must maintain a good safety record to operate equipment.
Must complete bay location change forms on a daily basis.
To maintain area in a clean and orderly fashion by the end of each workday.
