Turn Project Details into a Clear Plan

A well-established commercial sign manufacturing and installation company is seeking a Job Estimator to support its continued growth.

As a Job Estimator, you will take information collected during a site survey and turn it into a detailed, accurate project proposal. You will help determine what must be removed, replaced, painted, ordered, or installed before the work begins.

This is an opportunity to learn a specialized industry, develop valuable estimating experience, and build a long-term career with a company that provides hands-on training and encourages employees to take ownership of their work.

What You Will Do

Each project begins when a customer requests a site conversion or brand refresh. A surveyor visits the location, takes photographs, and gathers measurements and project details. You will use that information to develop the estimate and prepare the project for approval.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review site surveys, photographs, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Determine the work needed to complete full site conversions and image refreshes
  • Identify existing signs, graphics, canopy materials, decals, fixtures, and other items that must be removed or replaced
  • Review customer brand standards and image guides to ensure each estimate reflects the correct specifications
  • Build detailed project estimates using the company’s customized in-house software
  • Prepare pricing for labor, materials, equipment, subcontracted services, permits, and other project requirements
  • Request or confirm material pricing before finalizing estimates
  • Generate customer quotes and contracts from the completed estimate
  • Submit estimates for internal review and make corrections when needed
  • Communicate with vendors, customers, permitting staff, project teams, and leadership throughout the estimating process
  • Maintain accurate and organized project records

Once the estimate is approved and materials are ordered, the project will move to permitting, shipping, scheduling, and installation.

What Makes This Position Different

This is not a position where you will be handed a spreadsheet and expected to figure everything out alone.

You will receive training on the company’s estimating process, customer requirements, brand specifications, project terminology, and customized software. Experienced team members will review your work, explain corrections, and help you understand how each estimate translates into a completed project.

The company’s internal estimating platform was built specifically around its operation. It is designed to guide users through the process and can continue to evolve based on employee feedback.

You will be encouraged to ask questions, suggest improvements, and develop a deeper understanding of the entire project lifecycle.

What You Will Bring

  • Strong numerical reasoning and attention to detail
  • The ability to organize multiple pieces of project information
  • Confidence reviewing photographs, measurements, specifications, and written instructions
  • General computer proficiency and the ability to learn customized software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Dependability, follow-through, and personal accountability
  • A willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and make corrections
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
  • A collaborative approach when working with customers, vendors, estimators, operations staff, and leadership

Previous estimating, purchasing, project coordination, construction administration, signage, petroleum services, or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.

Industry-specific experience is not required. A college degree is not required, and the company will provide training on its internal systems and estimating process.

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks

  • A flexible, trust-based approach to occasional medical appointments, illness, and personal circumstances when responsibilities remain current.
