Job Location: Mount Airy, NC

Job Duration: Contract to Hire

Job Description:

– Will be operating a knitting machine — experience preferred but not required as long as job history is steady

– Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift–shift will be determined after interview

– Textile experience preferred

2nd shift hours: 2PM-10PM

3rd shift hours: 10PM-6AM

EE will be working 5-6 days/ week

SUMMARY

Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.

RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIREMENTS

• Study and interpret assembly instructions.

• Listen to directions from supervisors.

• Determine if all parts are present.

• Read parts list.

• Assemble tools and materials.

• Positions parts and subassemblies.

• Verify specifications.

• Assemble components.

• Ensure all parts are fitted and in properly.

• Resolve assembly and production issues.

• Move assembled goods from one location to another utilizing a forklift or other mechanical tool

• Ensure working environment is clean and safe.

• Report errors in product line.

• Check stock to ensure inventory is replenished.

• Complete daily production & inspection reports

• Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus

• Proven experience as an assembler and/or machine operator preferred

• Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.

• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Working knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment, including but not limited to a forklift, hand truck, and numerous other hand tools. SUMMARY

Responsible for granulating side-trim, set-up, or off-quality material

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Places side trim material into a Gaylord or other container

• Moves material by forklift, or hand, to granulator and feed material into it

• Removes granulated material to staging area or dump into another container

• Stacks cut sheet material onto pallet as produced; or

• Prepares roll for doffing (removal) such as wrapping roll, etc

• With the assistance of the Operator, prepares the empty tube for placement on the machine

• Assists the Operator in the removal, cleanout, and reattaching the die to machine

• Assists the Operator in the setup of machine

• Maintains a clean work area around machine

• Assists in the palletizing of material (strapping, etc.) to specifications

• Perform on-the-job training to new employees

• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
