SUMMARY
Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.
RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIREMENTS
• Study and interpret assembly instructions.
• Listen to directions from supervisors.
• Determine if all parts are present.
• Read parts list.
• Assemble tools and materials.
• Positions parts and subassemblies.
• Verify specifications.
• Assemble components.
• Ensure all parts are fitted and in properly.
• Resolve assembly and production issues.
• Move assembled goods from one location to another utilizing a forklift or other mechanical tool
• Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
• Report errors in product line.
• Check stock to ensure inventory is replenished.
• Complete daily production & inspection reports
• Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable laws and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
• Proven experience as an assembler and/or machine operator preferred
• Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Working knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools
• Understanding of production procedures
• Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
• Analytical skills and attention to detail
• Teamwork and good communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment, including but not limited to a forklift, hand truck, and numerous other hand tools. Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to
maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at Mount Airy manufacturing facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
