CNC Machinist II – 1st Shift
Location: Danville, VA (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Position Type: Full Time
Travel: Up to 25%
Due to the nature of the work performed, only U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. This role is fully onsite and not eligible for remote work.
Position Summary
The CNC Machinist II supports precision machining operations in a high-performance manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for setting up and operating advanced CNC equipment, performing inspections, maintaining equipment, and supporting documentation of machining processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical ability, attention to detail, and experience working in regulated or high-precision environments.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Setup & Operation
Set up and operate multi-axis milling machines, dual spindle lathes, mill/turn machines, Wire EDM, tool pre-setters, and band saws
Perform complex setups and troubleshoot machining processes
Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy
Inspection & Quality
Conduct pre-, in-, and post-process inspections
Use 3D scanners, micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision tools
Ensure compliance with ITAR, ISO, ANSI, and other applicable standards
CAD/CAM & Process Support
Support CNC operations using Autodesk Fusion 360 and Siemens NX
Assist with documentation of technical procedures and machining processes
Collaborate with operations leadership and technical staff on continuous improvement efforts
Equipment Maintenance
Perform preventative maintenance including coolant maintenance and basic machine calibration
Monitor equipment performance and maintain a clean, safe work environment
Inventory & Collaboration
Track CNC lab inventory including raw materials, cutting tools, and shop supplies
Work with internal teams and external partners to complete projects on time
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
Associate degree in Precision Machining Technology or equivalent hands-on experience
3–5 years of experience setting up complex CNC operations
Strong knowledge of precision machining principles
Experience with multi-axis machining, mill/turn equipment, and dual spindle lathes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience in an ITAR-regulated environment
CAD/CAM programming experience
