DESCRIPTION
The Technician is responsible for the repair and the maintenance of the circular knitting machines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Repair and maintain all circular knitting machines and related components (needles, lubrication system, creels, tubes, feeders, fans, etc.), particularly on the machines assigned
• Respond quickly and efficiently to needed repairs in order to keep circular knitting machines running efficiently
• Tear-down and reassemble machines to perform repairs and routine maintenance
• Diagnose and repair causes of fabric and yarn defects
• Defect recognition in yarn and/or the cloth produced
• Assist knitters with machine set-up and style changes
• Assist in doffing and wrapping rolls and fabric inspection when necessary
• Identify yarn SKU’s and ensure the proper routing of yarn from the creel to the machine
• Communicate with previous and next shift’s personnel
• Produce first quality fabric while maintaining high efficiency
• Patrol machines for efficiency and quality improvement
• Perform the job safely
• Perform general housekeeping duties
• Work overtime as needed
• Other duties as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED
• Technical knowledge regarding circular knitting machines
• Ability to operate material handling equipment
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Ability to push and pull heavy objects, including up to 1000 lbs. fabric cart
• Ability to lift above your head, stoop down, and climb ladders
• Ability to work in a hot and cold environment
• Excellent eyesight and ability to distinguish patterns, colors, and shades
• Self-starter mentality and strong work ethic
• Team player
• Communication skills
• Basic English speaking, writing and reading skills
• Basic arithmetic and computer skills
EXPERIENCE
• Five years of previous experience fixing circular knitting machines preferred
