Summary:
Conduct validation testing and defect analysis of new and existing products/processes. Set up and conduct tests with appropriate data acquisition and subsequent data analysis. Provide laboratory support for Product Engineering and production operations. Repair and maintain all laboratory equipment and work areas. Design, support, and maintain Production and Lab test fixtures. Assist in the design and fabrication of new production test equipment. Perform calibration activities on all gages, internal and, at the supplier’s location. Schedule and conduct calibration on all test, metologic, and production test equipment within an IATF environment through the management of QMS software.
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
- Operation and maintenance of the following lab equipment: Instron force tester, thermal chambers, thermal shock chamber, salt spray chamber, Keyence, IM XM, 3D scanner, digital Microscope, Rockwell hardness tester, and various other hydraulic/pneumatic equipment sets.
- Conduct failure analysis of EOL defects at the final assembly level and component level to determine whether processes are being performed correctly and to identify root causes of customer and EOL/in-process defects.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical test equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of EOL test equipment.
- Conduct laboratory tests as requested.
- Use hand tools, multimeters, pressure and vacuum meters, power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition equipment.
- Assist product engineering with troubleshooting and support efforts, along with promoting product, process, and specification changes.
- Support the development, fabrication, and specification of new production test equipment.
- Assist in developing, assembling, and testing prototype parts and processes.
- Conduct technical analysis and generate reports of test data, including producing meaningful data, charts, and summaries in a professional manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, Word, and Photoshop.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics.
Education and/or Experience:
- 2-year degree in electronics or a mechanical-related field
- 3 years of experience in a Test/technical-related field
Physical Demands:
- Standing for long periods, moving, bending, stooping, and sitting intermittently.
- Working around petroleum-based lubricants
- Ability to work in and around a manufacturing environment.
- Lifting up to 40 lbs. and no restrictions on wearing safety footwear and protective eyewear, and any other required PPE.
