Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic position supports various aspects of the production site. He/she is to repair, install, adjust, or maintain industrial production equipment. This will involve diagnosing the source of a problem with an inserting machine or similar finishing equipment or building system and then performing the necessary repairs. Preventative maintenance and routine repairs are also primary responsibilities of maintenance mechanics. Reporting on monthly work, tracking, and ordering parts or tools to support the above activities. This is a Non-Exempt position.

Responsibilities, Duties and Physical Requirements:

• Will maintain and repair Inserting and accessory equipment, along with other site equipment such as Compressors, humidifiers, water treatment, fire suppression or other systems as directed management.

• Follows production schedules and performs preventative maintenance, alerts management to deviations affecting PMs.

• Must be able to trouble-shoot and solve user reported problems and assist machine operators to effectively perform their duties.

• Proactively monitor, schedule, and prioritize tasks to maximize attainment of daily mailing commitments for the site.

• Safely stores and manages all parts, tools, ladders, and other equipment.

• Ensures all repairs and maintenance are competed with safety of themselves and other employees in mind.

• Assists with setup of new or upgraded equipment – including documenting all changes & testing results for management.

• Will be required to work shift schedule as needed and overtime when needed.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience using electronic trouble-shooting equipment.

• Experience in the Finishing/Inserting Department is valuable, including knowledge of the materials used in production – types of fold, inserts, custom envelopes, and custom forms/paper is desirable.

• Must be able to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software to be used for reporting.

• Mechanical experience a plus

• Self-motivated with the ability to produce quality results.

• Strong communications (written and verbal) skills – ability to work in a team environment.

• Must be willing to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, weekends, and holidays.

• Must be able to travel for training classes of 1–2-week duration as needed.

• Must be able to communicate clearly verbally and/or via email with Management to alert them of issues & submit required reports.

• Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. on a regular basis, have the flexibility to bend, twist & turn and be on his/her feet a large portion of each day.

* MUST be able to work 7 days a week and all 3 shifts
