Material Handler
Position: Material Handler/Forklift Operator
Department: Materials/Production
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Reports To: Materials Supervisor
Shift: 2nd and 3rd Shift Assigned shift with overtime as requested
Why This Role Matters
The Material Handler supports production by ensuring materials, parts, and components are accurately received, moved, stored, and delivered according to the production schedule. This position helps maintain inventory accuracy and an efficient workflow while ensuring all materials are handled safely and delivered to the correct production areas on time.
Key Responsibilities
• Follow established processes and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely movement of materials into and out of inventory.
• Safely operate a forklift to transport materials, products, parts, and components throughout the facility.
• Pull parts and components according to work-order picklists.
• Verify materials, quantities, part numbers, and locations to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Accurately process and complete all picklists and required inventory documentation.
• Identify and report material shortages, inventory discrepancies, damaged products, or equipment concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Load, unload, stage, organize, and store materials in designated locations.
• Follow all forklift operating procedures, traffic guidelines, and workplace safety requirements.
• Complete and maintain all required forklift training and certifications.

• Deliver the correct materials and components to production accurately and on time.
• Maintain accurate inventory records while minimizing picking and material-handling errors.
• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift throughout the assigned shift.
• Complete all picklists and inventory documentation accurately and promptly.
• Report shortages, damages, and inventory discrepancies immediately.
Required Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience:
Previous forklift-operating experience is required.
Previous material-handling, inventory, warehouse, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
Skills:
• Ability to safely and confidently operate a forklift.
• Ability to complete and maintain required forklift training and certifications.
• Ability to read and accurately process work orders, picklists, part numbers, and inventory documents.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
• Ability to identify and report shortages, damages, and inventory discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
• Ability to remain focused and productive throughout the entire shift.
Preferred Qualifications
• Current forklift certification.
• Experience supplying materials to manufacturing or production departments.
• Familiarity with inventory-control processes and material-tracking systems.
• Experience loading, unloading, staging, and storing materials.

Working Conditions
• Work is performed in a manufacturing, production, and warehouse environment.
• Must be able to stand and walk on concrete for the entire shift.
• Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the production floor.
• Must be able to lift and move products weighing approximately 50 to 70 pounds.
• Must be able to perform repetitive material-handling tasks.
• Must follow all safety procedures and wear designated personal protective equipment.
• Must be available to work overtime when requested.
