Job Title: Corporate Purchasing Manager
Supervisor: Chief Financial Officer
Summary: Edwards Wood Products, Inc. is a family run business that has been in operation for nearly 60 years. We are a premier supplier of lumber, pallets, and other wood products to a variety of industries. We are looking for a dynamic, high energy individual to direct and manage our supply chain. This individual will be an experienced purchasing professional with a passion for reducing cost while helping to keep our mills running smoothly and efficiently. The key duties are as follows:
• Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing, stocking, and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, parts, tools, services, and supplies for all Edwards Companies including both saw mills and our Transportation Company by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
o Responsible for systems and procedures regarding purchasing, stocking, and distributing material to all Edwards Companies.
o Prepares and implements policies and procedures governing the asset maintenance software for the fleet and mill inventories.
o Directs and coordinates the issuance of purchase orders and change notices.
o Directs and coordinates the receiving of goods.
o Supervises the verification of accuracy of goods received and prices billed.
o Oversees the matching of properly signed and dated receivers to the purchase requisitions, purchase orders and invoices.
o Develops and implements clerical and office procedures and practices, studies work flow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to determine efficient accounting processes to enable timely processing.
o Oversees purchasing staff, approves all departmental time clock punches, and performs departmental employee performance reviews.
o Coordinates purchases of all rolling stock equipment with fleet maintenance supervisor.
o Coordinates purchases for departments with mill managers for constant flow of smooth operations. Maintains stock and manages all parts inventories for all Edward” Companies.
o Maintains professional vendor relationships.
o Negotiates prices, services, and contracts pertaining to maintenance and plant operations for all Edwards Companies.
o Obtains and maintains files for all certificates of insurance, waivers, and W-9’s for all vendors and service personnel. (Coordinates with accounts payable department).
o Works closely with Transportation Safety Manager to acquire insurance repair quotes from outside vendors.
o Follows up on timely repairs and quality of work being performed.
o Maintains all necessary state and federal licensing requirements for Edwards vehicles to include yearly inspections. Follows Edwards prescribed safety rules and regulations.
o Monitors fuel reserves at all transportation terminals and reorders as needed. Provides month end fuel inventory reports to accounting department.
o Provides month end parts inventory reports to accounting department.
o Arranges for disposal of surplus materials. (with CFO approval).
o Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 10 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
2. Experience with supervision and management of a department of 3-5 employees.
3. Effective negotiating skills.
4. Accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Goal/Results driven with cost reduction as a priority.
6. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
7. Follow established EWPI safety rules and regulations.
8. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
