Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician plays a key role in supporting customers through on-site assembly, installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial systems. Responsibilities include servicing a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment—such as control panels, PLCs, VFDs, timers, power supplies, and more—while ensuring quality, safety, and performance. This position may also involve component-level repairs and requires frequent travel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Field Service:
Assemble, install, test, and commission industrial control systems at customer sites.
Independently perform repairs, panel modifications, and commissioning tasks.
Program and repair variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on-site; observe and diagnose equipment failure.
Replace defective components to minimize customer downtime.
Analyze complex systems and perform hands-on maintenance.
Adhere to all safety procedures, customer codes of conduct, and cleanliness standards.
Maintain clear documentation of service activities and communicate with departments including Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics.
Keep a clean, organized service vehicle and workspace.
Cross-train in various technical areas and perform additional duties as assigned.
Repair Shop:
Diagnose failures to the component level using tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters.
Follow engineering manuals, technical drawings, and schematics.
Document repair progress in internal systems.
Conduct safe machine start-ups and shutdowns.
Maintain required performance and maintenance records.
Communicate repair status across multiple departments.
Cross-train and contribute to additional tasks as directed.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Associate degree in electronics or technical field preferred; relevant experience accepted in lieu.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Experience with test tools (oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, etc.).
Prior field service experience preferred.
UL 508A training a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Solid understanding of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles.
Strong troubleshooting skills for analog, digital, and microprocessor systems.
Able to interpret schematics, data sheets, and cross-reference components.
Work independently while maintaining high-quality standards.
Effective communicator across all levels of the organization.

Fine motor skills for precision work and frequent use of hand tools.

Must support occasional off-shift work and consistent attendance.
Travel required 50%+; remainder of time spent in a well-lit, climate-controlled facility.
Work Environment:
Frequent travel to domestic customer sites, which may include non-climate-controlled manufacturing or warehouse settings.
Occasional work in a quiet, climate-controlled workspace.
