Human Resources Manager
Location: Mount Airy, NC (with travel to facilities in NC, GA, and TN)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $75,000 – $100,000 annually
Summary
This role leads and manages the overall Human Resources functions of the organization, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits & compensation, compliance, employee relations, talent development, and performance management. The HR Manager also oversees the company’s Safety & Health program and serves as a trusted partner to employees and leadership.
Things to Expect
- Manage HR and Safety for 4 facilities (2 in Mount Airy, NC, 1 in Georgia, 1 in Tennessee).
- Travel to out-of-state facilities at least once per quarter.
- Primarily in-person role (90%+).
- Serve as a strategic partner to leadership, aligning HR and safety initiatives with business goals.
- Act as a people advocate, building rapport on the floor with employees, addressing concerns, and promoting engagement.
- Lead performance management and support leaders through employee counseling, conflict resolution, and development.
- Handle all HR functions including payroll, recruiting, onboarding, training, benefits administration, reporting, and compliance (OSHA, DOL, etc.).
- Willingness to occasionally work outside standard business hours to support employees and business needs.
- Strong computer proficiency required (Paylocity, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR policies and programs aligned with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Lead strategies to improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and training across multiple sites.
- Administer benefits, compensation, payroll, and HRIS systems.
- Provide guidance on employment law, workplace investigations, and employee relations.
- Lead Safety Committee and drive health & safety initiatives.
- Support leadership in performance management and employee development.
- Oversee compliance with federal and state regulations (EEO, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8–10 years of progressive Human Resources management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, build trust, and work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
- Flexibility to travel and occasionally work outside standard hours.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to production/warehouse environments.
- Regular use of a computer and phone; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Travel to facilities, schools, and conferences as needed.
