Operates and maintains multiple injection molding machines to produce and audit PET plastic preforms. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operates multiple injection molding machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface. Conducts quality inspections using specific written and visual guidelines. Ensures operations are completed in accordance with safety procedures Monitors operations of injection molding machine to detect machine malfunctions. Stops machines and production to report malfunctions to the process lead and/or supervisor. Performs minor adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions. Performs preventive maintenance on machines. Scans and consumes production tickets using computer interface. Accurately completes all logs, data input and written, to include hourly checks and downtime. Removes any damaged material from machine. Assembles gaylord boxes to be used for storage and transport of finished product. Operates pallet jack and forklift to move finished product from machine to the staging area. Effectively communicates with all internal departments. Grinds defective PET preforms. Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties. EDUCATION High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job. The employee must also frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.
