Summary:
This role is responsible for managing raw material procurement, production scheduling, inventory control, warehousing, and transportation. The position ensures efficient use of systems such as SAP and leads efforts to meet production demands, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure timely shipments.
Essential Responsibilities:
Purchase raw materials (e.g., preforms, pallets, tier sheets, top frames) and services such as equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Identify and establish vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for cost savings and service improvements.
Manage receiving and shipping of raw materials and finished goods; ensure warehouse organization and compliance.
Conduct periodic physical inventory and reconcile variances within ERP systems.
Generate inventory and usage reports; monitor consumption and plan to meet production needs.
Oversee transportation to ensure on-time customer deliveries using third-party carriers.
Communicate with customers on delivery issues or concerns; escalate quality complaints as needed.
Promote and enforce workplace safety, including housekeeping standards and contractor compliance.
Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Perform additional tasks as directed by plant leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages Warehouse Supervisor, Materials Coordinator, and Cycle Counter.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required.
Experience:
Minimum five years in a manufacturing setting, preferably in plastics or packaging.
Authority and Decision-Making:
Authorized to shut down equipment for safety or quality issues.
May contact staff and management regarding operational concerns or improvements.
Approves corrective actions for policy violations; may recommend hiring, terminations, and promotions.
Approves spending within pre-defined limits set by corporate policy.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Manufacturing environment with exposure to warehouse and shipping operations.
Must be able to walk warehouse floor, occasionally lift/move materials, and use standard office equipment.
