POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting & HR Director leads finance, accounting, and human resources. This role ensures accurate reporting, strong controls, effective planning, disciplined cash management, and compliant people practices while supporting long term business goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance and Accounting

• Develop financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Partner with operations to analyze job costs, labor use, overhead, efficiency, waste, and margins.
• Forecast cash flow and advise leadership on liquidity, reserves, financing, credit, and investments.
• Manage relationships with banks, insurers, brokers, auditors, and accounting firms.
• Lead operating and capital budgets, monitor results, and recommend adjustments.
• Evaluate investments through business cases, ROI models, risk assessments, payback analysis, and post implementation reviews.
• Improve working capital through payment terms, inventory management, collections, and process improvements.
• Oversee reporting, internal controls, tax filings, contracts, and applicable government requirements.
• Identify automation and system improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Approve planned headcount and compensation decisions within established guidelines.

Human Resources

• Oversee recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, payroll, benefits, training, and policies.
• Strengthen culture, engagement, accountability, retention, and organizational health.
• Ensure compliance with employment, payroll, benefits, workers’ compensation, record retention, and multistate requirements.
• Coordinate responses to claims, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and legal matters with employment counsel.
• Guide recruiting strategy, benefits design, compensation, employee development, and consistent policy administration.
• Promote a safe, respectful workplace that supports growth and employee satisfaction.

Leadership and Supervision

• Contribute to strategic planning and companywide decisions as a senior leadership team member.
• Improve communication, resource management, and execution across departments.
• Model ethical leadership and accountability while coaching future leaders.
• Oversee accounting and HR staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits, financial analysis, controllers, reception, interns, and related roles.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Twelve or more years of progressive accounting or related experience, including management responsibility.
• At least five years leading accounting with HR compliance responsibility in a multistate or multisite organization.
• Proven success improving financial results and influencing operational decisions.
• Advanced knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, modeling, cash flow, cost control, margin analysis, internal controls, GAAP, risk, and ROI.
• Working knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, payroll, benefits, investigations, and employee relations.
• Experience negotiating financing, capital purchases, vendor terms, and service agreements.
• Experience with ERP systems, HRIS platforms, reporting tools, upgrades, and automation.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, models, and pivot tables.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to protect confidential information, manage priorities, and lead projects through implementation.
