Shipping and Receiving Lead coordinates the daily logistics flow, ensures shipments go out on time, and verifies that incoming freight is accurate and undamaged. This is a working leader position, meaning the individual will split their time between administrative duties (such as system logs and scheduling) and physical floor work (such as operating forklifts and unloading trucks).
Team Leadership & Supervision
Direct Daily Workflows: Assign daily tasks to warehouse associates, clerks, and material handlers.
Train & Onboard: Educate new hires on company logistics procedures, scanning hardware, and safety policies.
Enforce Safety Standards: Ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations, including proper forklift operation and heavy lifting techniques.
Receiving Operations (Inbound)Verify Inbound Cargo: Cross-check incoming merchandise against purchase orders, bills of lading, and packing slips.
Inspect Deliveries: Assess and document physical freight damage, material shortages, or shipping errors.
Inventory Integration: Supervise the scanning of incoming stock into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and manage product labeling.
